"Colin Fosdick, who was always known as Rhino, joined the 7th Hussars at Mhow in April 1921.
He served with the Regiment in Edinburgh, and at Tidworth and Colchester for the next ten years, being Adjutant from January 1929 to December 1931. During this period he was the Army Heavyweight Point to Point on his own horse Jonah, and also played in a number of polo tournaments for the Regiment.
He rejoined the Regiment, which was then in the Western Desert in July 1941 becoming Second-in-Command, and succeeded Freddy Byass as Commanding Officer when the latter was killed in action at Sidi Rizegh in November.
He held this appointment for eighteen months which included the Burma campaign of 1942, and, in the autumn of that year, took the Regiment to Iraq, but relinquished command in April 1943, before it left for Italy.
His next command was of 152 Regiment R.A.C., and, after two years there he was posted to the British Military Mission, Ethiopia, retiring in January 1947.
He made his home in Kenya and died there in 1976."
