    Hi,
I am trying to work out the overseas service of the above soldier, the information I have at the moment is from his RE Trace card:

    Christian name - unknown
    Born 10 Mar 1895
Enlisted 24.02.28 for 4 Years, age 32 years, 351 days.
    Re engaged 24.02.36 4 yrs
    Re engaged 24.02.36 4 yrs
    Discharged 07.09.36
Re engaged 24.02.37 - to France with BEF 10.09.39, discharged 20.02.40 (states to emergency commission?) I can find no trace in LG.
    Sapper 24.02.28
    Cpl 25.01.34
    L/Sgt 18.12.35
    Sgt 23.01.36
    Sapper 24.02.37
Sgt 12.02.37 (when service reckoned from)
    WO2 29.01.38
    Commissioned 20.02.40?

He is on the roll for the General service medal GVI with clasp Palestine as a Sergt, however I have a medal named to him as a Sgt with a Malaya bar, not a Palestine (a clasp mix up maybe?). I assume he saw service throughout WW2 and then possible service in Malaya?

any help or pointers on his service medal entitlement would be appreciated,

    Cheers,

    Rick

    Rick,

I would have thought by 1940 he was too old for "active service", after all he was 45yrs old and 50yrs after WW2 ended.

Curious that when he discharged from the RE as a Sgt, then rejoined five months later he had to serve as a Sapper again even for a few months.
