1892401 Sapper Allenby WHITEHOUSE, 10 Field Squadron, Royal Engineers: 02/12/1941

    Sapper Allenby Whitehouse -Service Number: 1892401 Royal Engineers 10 Field Sqdn.

    He died on 2/12/1941, apparently whilst in training with grenades , can anyone validate this please?

    Death was in Northamptonshire.
    Allenby Whitehouse
    Age 23
    Registration Date. Oct 1941
    Registration Quarter. Oct-Nov-Dec
    Registration district Daventry
    Inferred County Northamptonshire
    Volume 3b
    Page 162

    One of the ancestry trees he is on has this note:
    Believed to have died whilst being stationed in Ashby St Ledgers, Northants. Possibly when training with mines/grenades.

    Thank you, but how sad.
    You might be interested to know each year I pick 25 military people that died in WW2 in the days leading up to Christmas, this year it is 1941 (80 years) at random. Then put their names on a Christmas Remembrance tree. This then goes on display in our local church at the tree festival,pre- pandemic years we have about 13000 people visiting.
