Hi all, been asked a question regarding a local man on the village war memorial. His details are: 1927472 Corporal JAMES DOUGLAS NORMAN WHITEHEAD of 199 Railway Workshop Company, who died at sea on September 1, 1942. My question is was he buried at sea due to dying onboard, or was the ship that he was on sunk?? Any info would help. Thanks for reading, Mark.
