Mmm....I did think CG was a possibility but decided it wasn't the one. I'll let it run until I come home from work to see what other members think and post what I think it is around 830 tonight. *In the mean time you can view the full picture (Post 89) here: Cheers Andy *Edit: threads now merged
Coldstream Guards was my first reaction too. However, I think it might actually be the Cheshire Regiment, which had at least one battalion in the BEF. Steve
2nd Bn of the Cheshires was at Dunkirk if there's an Acorn in the badge centre it'll be the Cheshires
I think Cheshires too - There was three Bn's in France (2, 4 and 7). That said the four in the caps would have been Battalion Rear Guards. They've defo not just come back from France. The reason why I'm not convinced they are CG is the points on the badge are all equal and CG had/has longer NSEW points I believe? The height is a good point though which makes it less clear cut.

Andy, The CG capstar is even - compare it to that of the IG whose 8 pointed star does indeed have longer points at NSEW. Having said that many a CWGC headstone hasn't got this quite right either, something my father noticed. Guards Metal Cap Badges Scots Guards, Irish Guards, Grenadier Guards, Coldstream Guards, Military Cap Badges Was there a caption that came with the photo by any chance?
Posts #91 and #97 show the Tiensesteenweg in Leuven just prior to the railway bridge being blown. In this picture, just post demolition, is a Norton on its side. The damaged car is visible in both pictures. I'm going to do a "then and now" but it'll have to be very early on a Sunday morning with Rewdco standing camera at the ready as I won't want to leave it lying there for long !

They have to be a Guards regiment or CMP - No one else could've got away with peaks like that !
Ref Capbadge I was looking at the Puggaree Badges not the OR's. There are 7 CG related Cap Bages. Thought you might be interested Di - There are 8 different IG ones. Send my a VM if you want scans of all the Foot Guards Pages and badges.
