Only joined WW@Talk today. My father was in 73rd Anti-tank Regiment F Troop 196 Battery. I'm pretty sure that my father (William H Willis) is fourth from the right in second row from the top. My father died in 2012 aged 92. He didn't talk much about his war service but I think he was a Corporal, a troop mechanic and drove a Bren Gun Carrier. I also believe he was the Colonel's driver.
Hi and welcome to the forum martinw, if that's your father good spot. Just a thought do you have your father's service history?
HI Martin. Please get in touch. I have lots to show and tell you. I assume your father was from Drews Lane, Birmingham... He was L/Bdr. Chris
Hi, This is my first post as I'm a newby. I have just come across your post as I'm going down to Bovington tank museum next week. My father did his training there with the 51st tank reg until being moved to Caterick prior to D-Day when he was embedded as a Gunner with the 196/73ATR they sailed out from Felixtowe according to his records I'm interested in any info you may have prior to my visit as I'm trying to find out what he may have been driving as he did all three ie: Gunner,Driver, Radio operator as they were all expected to do, my father just passed away this year at 96. Thank you in advance. William Booth
