    Hi,

Has anyone a copy of the 1st Army Service - Tom C perhaps?

I have the 8th Army one at the end in Italy but just cannot find that of the 1st.

    Cheers, Gerry

I am still having no end of trouble signing into that blog, I have tried all ways on many occasions - but still no luck ...If you could get back to Gerry to say that I do not have either 1st or 8th army service of thanksgiving - all I have is the 145th Burial service at the Canadian Cemetery at Riccione...give him also my best regards

    Ron,
Is Tom having trouble getting here?
Brian aka Sapper is also haveing trouble getting to this site, he's ok I spoke to him on the phone yesterday.
Seems odd that two Veterans aren't able to visit us.

Yes, Tom speaks of nothing but aggro on trying to sign in and has frankly given up the struggle !

If anyone can help it would be appreciated.

This is the first I've heard of this Ron, can you extend our apologies to Tom Canning.
I'll look into it and PM you for more details.

If anyone else is having, or knows of anyone having, trouble could they contact me via Pocketbrownie[at]hotmail.com (replace [at] with @) so I can see if there's a more widespread issue.

    Cheers,
    Adam.

    Hi Adam

I had the same problem but overcame it by using the following url:
    www.ww2talk.com/forum/main-ww2-talk-forums

Thank you very much Gerry, you're a star.
Hopefully that will work as a temporary measure.
I've just registered a test ID and everything was fine until I promoted that ID to 'veteran' status. This led to the portal displaying as normal but without any posts visible, I could access the forums by clicking 'browse forums' (which goes to the URL Gerry stated), where everything worked as normal.

So in short, there is apparently some sort of conflict between Veteran status and the portal. Otto and I have been trying to unravel the odd way that permissions were allocated to different usergroups on here. I'll have a good hard look (still on a steep learning curve I'm afraid) but there may be a slight delay as it could require Otto's skill.

I can only offer my serious apologies to anyone who's been affected by this.
It shouldn't happen to any user, but especially not the veterans.
It will be resolved as soon as humanly possible.

    Cheers,
    Adam.

I know that I am a little behind the times with this reply but have recently found this 1st Army Service of Thanksgiving among my fathers papers and thought that it may be of interest.

    David,

nice - from looking at one of the war diaries, this might (would?) have been used at the First Army Thanksgiving Service held at Carthage at 1100hrs on 23rd May 1943.

    LA MARSA

All units of the First Army held thanksgiving services for the victory in North Africa.

12.00 Army Commander presented awards to the following members of the regiment:
Maj J Fawshawe,(Forshaw?) Lt LAJ Edwards, Lt AL Pickering, L/Sjt H Dean, Cpl C Smith, Tprs Allsop J and C Reid

Looking at Google maps I see Carthage is not far away from La Marsa (about 5kms), but I don't know where the service was held.

Can you remember the place you were staying Ron?
