This might be a longshot, but does anyone have the war diaries for 1NGIB? I am looking at the record of a man I believe was attached to Bn HQ, and hoping to find out a bit about his movements. At this point, I know he was sent from New Guinea proper to New Britain in June 1945 and was detached to ANGAU (Australian New Guinea Administrative Unit) Nantambu in Aug. 1945 for a period of about a month.

    Cheers

    Hi,
He was Pata (Private) Kadimen, a New Guinea native. I doubt he would be mentioned specifically anywhere (although one never knows, I guess); I thought reporting on the movements of battalion HQ would be useful thought.
