Hi can anyone help...im trying to research my friends great uncle who sadly died in Op MG, his name was John Brown McCulloch, service number 1464620 died 24th Sept '44. I have found his grave on CWGC but she wants to know if anyone knew him or had pics possibly, or where i can find out more info. Casualty thx
Hello and welcome The first thing she should do is apply for his service records: Ministry of Defence | About Defence | What we do | Personnel | Service Records | Making a Request for Information held on the Personnel Records of Deceased Service Personnel and Home Guard records They cost 30 pounds and make sure she asks for the FULL records. There is a wait of about 12 months Lesley
There is a picture of his grave on the Paradata site, here: John B McCulloch | ParaData ..and a history of the unit on the same site here 2nd Airlanding Anti-Tank Battery RA | ParaData Curiously, it lists another McCulloch, Robert - killed almost exactly a year earlier in Italy in the same unit. Different parents, but perhaps related?
