Paul - last year you did Cassino - Anzio and Ortona - this year try the Gothic Line area - stay in Urbino and that will give you a central spot for the area - it's a beautiful area to visit, Ryanair go into Ancona every few days. Seven cemetery's to visit around there !
    Cheers

Good idea about the dates and the calender. I hope you do get to Gallipoli one day, as it is a beautiful, amazing place. I've met lots of Kiwis there over the years, especially in the ANZAC Bar in Ecebat!

Tom - we are already think along those lines. Flying into Pisa, then doing the Gothic Line around Florence and Fuda Gap, then across to the Adriatic side to explore there. Would like to make it up to the Po where my father was in April '45. You are right about Urbino; I stayed there in 2003; a fantastic place. And we found it good for exploring the Rimini area and up as far as Faenza.

I'll be there in Normandy for the D-Day anniversary.

I recently booked the ferry and accomodation, and hope to attend at least one of the ceremonies that Englandphil has posted details of.

I was there on 6th June a few years back and it was a heart warming experience to see and meet some of the veterans of the campaign.

Paul, are any of them Normandy Vet's? If so how are you funding it. Ive been in conversation with Peter Hodge about raising funds for the 65th Pilgramage, and all seems to be going well.

    Phil,

Sorry i missed your question, they are all Normandy vets , i have been taking them for quite a few years , the guys are funding it themselves , we did receive funding for the 60th as part of the Normandy Veterans Pilgrimage Club but since then funding has been tight , as part of my Tour i take the veterans at cost price.

    regards

    Paul

I am planning on arriving the 3rd, near Arromanches. Appreciate the details. Does anyone know if there is or will there be a website specific to the 65th commemoration? These are the first details that I have seen. Truly appreciated!!

Hopefully be in Holland late October, for 65th Liberation celebrations in Vught area. s'Hertogenbosch I believe are planning for their celebrations and inviting vets of 53rd Div.

I am also hoping to be in Breda in Holland (29th October) the same time for their liberation celebration. Must visit Vucht (the camp), which I believe elements of the Cannucks liberated.

PS If anyone wants headstone pictures of any of the Polish liberators who fell there, I intend to visit the locations where they rest in Peace.
