    Hello Neil.

I think your father served with my step grandfather Sgt Arthur Huthwaite and I think you have a posted photo with him on it (he is the one bottom left). He fought at Bure and was awarded the Military Medal there when his tank went up on a mine and he managed to get his crew and Sgt Roberts crew back to safety. Unfortunately he is no longer with us to ask any more than that.

    Regards

Hi Darren and welcome to the forum. Do you have a copy of his MM Citation?

Thank you so much for that. It is the first time I have seen it and didn't think I ever would.

    Hi Darren,

A belated Happy New Year to you (and DREW), and welcome to WW2talk.

This has been the best source of information and collaboration I've come across in all the years I've been searching for information on my father.

Have a look at the 'HQ Armoured Brigade at the end of WWII' forum I started back in Oct 2012 for some more information on your step grandfather's unit.

Do you have any pictures of Arthur so I can compare him to the picture I posted? Was it the one below?

Were you able to spot his autograph in my dad’s book?

    Regards

    Neil Turner

I received a mesage (below) from Jeroen of the Netherlands a few months ago and agreed to upload extracts from the 29th Armoured Brigade War Diaries for him.

I'm researching a monument in Stiphout (near Eindhoven, the Netherlands), which was liberated by units of the 11th Armoured Division. In my opinion we have the wrong units listed on the monument and I'm currently trying to find the correct units. They where part of the 29th Armoured Brigade, most likely the 23rd Hussars and 3rd Royal Tank Regiment, or maybe the 2nd Fife and Forfar Yeomanry. I'm currently acquiring the war diaries of these units but am also interested in the 29th Armoured Brigade.

I was hoping that you can provide me with the pages concerning the period of 20 till 27 September '44.

    Kind regards,

    Jeroen

    Hi Jeroen,

I don't have access to the war diaries of 3 RTR, but I'd be grateful if you'd send me a copy if you get hold of one.

I have my father's copy of Tauraus Pursuant a history of the 11th Armoured Division and copied the relevant pages and uploaded them for you to look at.
