3rd Grenadier Guards, Derrick Manning

Was wondering if anyone here would be able to help with this grouping - I’m looking specifically for a service number or any other information that anyone may have. Been through all the GG directories on here to no avail.

As usual, I’m always trying to save groupings from 1st Guards Brigade that sellers are intent on splitting up.

This one landed recently to a Derrick Manning. It came with a few civilian portraits (with GG veteran badge), a 6th Armoured Formation Sign, a 1934 squad picture featuring him taken at Caterham, a tunic removed breast eagle and a tunic removed Afrika Korps cuff title (presumably picked up in Tunisia).

If nothing else the squad photo may provide a face to some of the names in the directories here. I had to scan it twice as it’s very large hence the ‘joined’ / composite image.

The seller to me stated that he was the half brother of the sellers father in law, and that not much was known of him. Apparently, he was born in 1916 his mother was named May Mitchell who worked in service in London. The seller stated that he returned his WW2 medals “in disgust over the campaign” and that after the war he owned a hotel in Ipswich.
