During my stay in Krasnodar in '06 the babushka gave me her medal of 50 let proryva blokady Leningrada - 50 years lifting the siege of Leningrad. Thought I'd post a picture of both babushka and medal.

Btw, does any of you have information about the medal?

This is not a medal, this is officially called 'memorial sign' and was issued in 1993 to sign those who fought and broke down Leningrad siege from outside.

Thanks for the comments and for the clarification.
Alex, it must have been given to the survivors of the siege as well, since she "just" lived there during that time and didn't fight in the Army, no?

I'm not sure but its possible. Unfortunately I didn't find much information on this 'memorial sign'.

I think that's just the case. My grandpa (R.I.P) got a medal in 2005 during the 60th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. He was only about 12 or 13 at the time, and he lived in Siberia, worked at armaments factory. And he got the medal nonetheless. So I guess you can compare that to this memorial sign.
