    Hi all,

I'm trying to determine where my Grandfather was injured during the Italian campaign.

The date of injury was either 14 August 1944 or 02 September 1944 (still trying to decode some conflicting information).

He was a Sergeant in 504 Battery, 75th (Highland) Heavy Regiment, Royal Artillery (7.2").

As far as I can determine, the August date had the Corps regrouping, after a prolonged engagement at Monte San Savino, south of Arezzo ("75 Heavy had been with [6] AGRA on the [13] Corps right flank, mainly supporting 4 British Infantry and 6 British Armoured divisions", and not in action (a skirmish?).

If it was the September date, that's easier, they were in action just NE of Florence, supporting 1 British and 8 Indian divisions.

Does anyone happen to have a copy of the War Diary for that unit, for that time (or, all of the campaign), that they might share, please?

    Thanks very much.

Question answered Deciphering Casualty list best not to post on more than one topic as it will get very confusing.

Not really conflicting, just proof that original documents are the one's to use and don't believe everything you read on the internet. By the way have you got his official service records?

Thanks - records have been ordered. I just got a hold of a map with dates and movements of the units they were supporting, up to the day before the wounding (13 Aug 1944). Best guess is they were perhaps moving the heavies over the bridge at Florence, between the 2 units they were supporting (1 British & 8 Indian). War diary it is. Thanks.
