    From RAOC Regimental History:
This was never an RAOC unit but the majority of sub-workshops were originally the maintenance sub-workshops of 4 BOW. There were 13 of these and the main task was repair of "A" and "B" vehicles and assemblies. Repair of weapons, wireless sets and radar was also undertaken. 533 Base Workshop became a large unit with very impressive figures of production.

    From Craftsmen Of The Army:
...533 Base Workshop was formed, to absorb the RASC Heavy Repair Workshop and share with 2 Base Workshop at Tel-el-Kebir and 7 Base Workshop in Alexandria base repair responsibilities.

If anyone else can add information about this unit it would be very gratefully received.

    Jules.

    Hi Jules

There are war diaries for this unit from October 1942 to April 1946. Based in the Middle East the entire time.
