5th GUARDS ARMOURED BRIGADE Workshop - Normandy to Cuxhaven 1944/45
I need help in filling in gaps & bulking out detail of my father`s service 1944/45. I am a beginner at this sort of research; any assistance will be greatly received.
Cpl George Bell of 5 Guards Armoured Brigade REME Workshop : From Gold Beach on 30/6/44 to Cuxhaven in October 45. 700 miles in 16 months, taking in Bayeu, Escoville, La Grevarie & Collombelles; the Seine crossing, Brussels. Meeeting strong resistence on 26 Sept approaching Nijmegan. Moving through Holland and arriving in Tilberg in February 1945. Moving on to Uden and crossing the Rhine on 2 Apl and on to Enschede; and onwards to Zeven in May (at the same time Himmler was captured in the close vicinity) At the back end of May 45 was billeted in ex slave labour camp at Ottendorf before embarking at Cuxhaven for the UK in the October. Thanks in advance for any assistance.
