6085781 Gnr Ernest H Brookes (sometimes Brooks), 3 HAA Regiment, Royal Artillery: FEPOW

I am researching my Great Uncle Ernest who I believe was with this regiment in Singapore ( or the surrounding area ). I have been able to find some information but it is not very extensive. I have found his POW record card so any help in translation would be very gratefully received.

Also if anyone can point me in the direction of where the 3 HAA Royal Artillery were posted in Malaysia before capture I would be very grateful for that too.

Basically, ANY information about my uncle would be fantastic.

You have 2 different dates of birth on the docs

 

He was discharged from West Surrey regiment 1935, (Possibly joined them 1933) and re-enlisted into R.A. 1937. Posted missing 15.2.42, fall of Siongapore. Later confirmed POW. hELD IN tHAILAMD.

I am aware that there are two differing dates of birth, the 1919 one is correct so I am not sure why the 1916 date was ever entered!!
Unfortunately so far I have not been able to locate a death certificate for him so I will have to keep on searching for now.

You should contact the very helpful Thailand-Burma Railway Centre. They should be able to give you details of your great uncle's time on the Railway.
