With the 70th anniversary of the battle of Wadi Akarit, Tunisia, on 6 April 2013, members should read about the dramatic story which unfolded on this battlefield to bring Allied victory at the cost of some 600 dead and 1800 wounded/maimed.

70 years ago, the famous battle of El Alamein turned the tide against the German army in North Africa. And shortly after, in Operation Scipio, victory at the savage battle of Wadi Akarit in Tunisia led to the Axis forces being kicked off the continent, opening up the way for the battle of Sicily.

I have posted some compelling material on my web site including an account from Wilf Shaw, 93, who is a member of this forum – good on yer Wilf!
