Would anyone (I presume Drew) have the War Diary, please, covering these dates which may give a clue as to what happened to him.

    Many thanks,

    Graeme

    Here you go mate:
WO 167/496 76 Field Regiment, Royal Artillery. Unfortunately the June diary doesn't start until the 3rd June. Do you want a picture of his name on the Dunkirk Memorial ?

    Morning Drew,

As always, many thanks for taking the time and effort to post the War Diary

A pic of the memorial would be most welcome.

Do you have any objection to the people from the Ash War Memorial site using the images at all ??

    Regards,

    Graeme

Fill ya boots mate - If I was a guessing man I'd say he was on the Gracie Fields and drowned. It may be worth doing a CWGC search and see how many more died from his regiment within that date range.

I thought there was a missing men file for the Gracie Fields WO 167/12 Evacuation of Dunkirk: losses on hospital carrier Gracie Fields, 30 May 1940. A long shot but he may be mentioned in the file. I don't have a copy yet though.

    Hi Drew,

Cheers, I'll pass the info on.

I agree re "Gracie Field" however the 'official' date of her sinking appears to be 30 May 1940.

many thanks for the pics etc,

    Graeme
