    Hi,

I have obtained the war diary but unfortunately the information that I am looking for (detail of the 7th RNR involvement in the assaults on La Bijude and Epron) are contained in the Commanding Officer's report in annex 4 of the July 1944 diary, but that is sadly missing from the diary held at the National Archives. This is in connection with with a grave in my local cemetery in Bishops Stortford. George Alfred John Robinson is commemorated on his parents' headstone. Private Robinson's remains lie in the Cambes-En-Plane cemetery, he having been killed on 8th July in the 59th's frontal attack on Caen.

Does anyone have this Annex 4 report from another source?

    Thanks,
    Adrian.

Many thanks for this, it's great! I have many photographs from Cambes-en-Plaine cemetery... 59th Division Association wreath layings, but not of this soldier's grave. Thanks again.

    Hi Adrian

I saw your post above and wondered if you were able to find out any further information regarding the assaualts, by 7th Btn Royal Norfolk Regiment on La Bijude and Epron? My uncle took part in the Operation Charnwood and was killed on 8th July 1944 and also is laid to rest in the Cambes-En-Plane cemetery, Reginald Bell. I am visiting the area in May 2023 and trying to investigate some background. I found this article which suggests that maybe he perhaps was in the cornfields north of La Bijude, but this is the closest I have got. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    Jim...
