    Ah can I see that please he might be the right one? Any other info on this one would be appreciated

    Japanese Index Card gives dob for Stanley Albert Dellar, as 28/5/1920, your grandfather was 1914.

    1914 would make more sense as my nana was 1916. This sounds more promising.

    998179 does not appear in any POW or casualty lists, where does the POW story come from?

    It came from the fact that I had the wrong person. Like I said a red herring for me.

    My suggestion would be to send off for his service records, to be honest it is the only way, to avoid researching someone else's relative. You DO NOT need any military information, just dob and a copy of his death certificate. Unfortunately it will be a fair wait, around 12 months, so be patient.

    Yes I think that is the best thing too. I will do that. I’ll try to delete the post tomorrow to stop others wasting their time. thank you for your help
