The early part 1942/43 they were building, Caissons, Hippos and Croc roadways and trialing them out . Part of the 'Mulberry' Harbour operation. Had this book for Xmas trying to get more information from the author.
There is a further book'The Royal Engineers' by Derek Boyd that mentions the Mulberry Harbour in Chapter 6 wrt D Day. It doesnt mention the 229 Field Coy.
