Captain); Captain 23rd October 1945; Transfered as Captain to the Suffolk Regiment, 14th October 1948 (Seniority 23rd October 1945); Staff Captain 23rd April 1949; T.D. and clasp London Gazette 12th January 1951; Captain (Hon. Major), T.A. Reserve of Officers 17th June 1952

    Granted an immediate D.S.O. for actions during the assault crossing of the River Gari 11/12th May 1944

    Thanks for posting these details. I think I've said before, there is not too much info around, about the 2nd KLR and the men who served within.

    I have researched the 2 KINGS operation at Cassino in some detail and understand why Maj Tuohy was awarded a DSO rather than an MC. It is a measure of what 2 KINGS endured on the night 11-12 May 44 that the chap who wrote Maj Tuohy's citation was not the Commanding Officer who led the battalion on the night. He was dead.

    Thanks Frank. My obvious interest lies with the 1st and 13th battalions in Burma, but since researching about my grandfather etc. I have an avid interest in everything KLR and throughout the ages. Guy has come up with at least two 2KLR soldiers details in recent weeks, the other was in his newspaper cuttings thread.
