    Hi All,
I have been passed a PDF copy of "A Fusilier remembers Italy", written by Gilbert Allnutt who served with X Coy, 8th Royal Fusiliers.

Lots of chapters including Anzio all written from his memory.

His Son, John has given permission for it`s distribution. So if anyone would like a copy please PM me with your email address and I`ll pass it on.

    Nigel

    Nige,

nice one for sending this on, it's most appreciated. To others on the board who have a interest in the the 8 RF then take up this kind offer. It's on my list to read in time.

Nige, I must also say thanks on another offer that you offered, & I've taken up. You have sent me many, many & too many pages. I get your work you have done in collecting them all.

I did not have any of these important documents and I often wondered how anyone came across them....Bliss.;)

Edit: or more or less is my understanding.

    Many thanks.
    Regards,
    Stu.

    Hi Stu,

The files from the Beach Head cemetery in Anzio were compiled off the CWGC database.
Basically over a two week period I did a deep dive into every casualties record (2000+) and downloaded everything.

I used them for cross reference in my research regarding the search for my Grandfathers last resting place.

The files were very useful to me and may help others and save them the time also.

Hi Anyone who reads this....I`m pretty desperate to find a copy of the Orbat of each company for the 8th Bn Royal Fusiliers for the Anzio period (I know it changed constantly). Ideally it would list each man in each Coy.

The period just before they were in Anzio (Jan/Early Feb 1944 ) would be like gold dust to me.

I have the Fusiliers TA museum in Balham looking through their files also (they inform me that they are effectively the descendants of the 8th & 9th Bns RF) and have a small museum located in the TA centre site.

I have managed to compile a large list of fusiliers by Coy for the period of Dec 1943/Jan 1944 and 16-8th Feb from a file Gary Tankard sent me with lists of missing soldiers. The pay parade acquittance rolls in the file show individual Fusiliers listed by Coy which was useful.

Hopefully someone can assist or point me in the right direction..

Also posted this in the 167 Bde thread for wider coverage.

    Nige,

I'm sure I've got 167 Inf Bde war diaries Jan-Mar 44. Will check & come back with a answer. These may be of use? You may have them? Will send on if needed?

Edit. I do have the above.

    Regards,
    Stu.
