Ron, what is your opinion about colonial forces??

As I have already said, the only time I met them was in the Cassino area and as a British soldier I was very appreciative of their help.
I dont have the figures to hand (these are easily obtainable on the internet) but I do know they played a substantial part in the war effort.

The only meetings with the enemy was when we captured them.WE treated them properly.
I dont want to meet old enemies, For me they are still tainted with the deaths of millions, and the horrors of the concentration camps. The claim that they did not know is utter crap... Did they not have a sense of smell? (the stench of death is unmistakable) or did the guards never go on leave? They were quite happy to what went on.
The only time they started to to complain they did not know ...was when they were losing...... before?h they were happy Germans. They turned out in heir millions to greet the all conquering Hero Hitler.
Meet them?Joking mate? I have lived a life of pain and discomfort due entirely to the war. Meet them?

Like Brian, I have no particular wish to re-visit either Austria or Germany and, if asked to share a platform with an ex-member of the German forces, would have to say no thank you.

And it must be said Ron... That anyone of your religion would find it very difficult. being the History of what happened during those years of the "Germanic dark age.
An age" when they all joined in.... when they were winning..How they changed when retribution loomed over them like the Sword of Damocles.

I have said it many times: I just hope that the murdering scum will be forced to listen to the screams of women and children burned alive.. as at Orador sur glan

    Ron,
Your reply was actually quite polite.
A good friend, now deceased, was much less reserved about his views on former enemies. Captured at Hong Kong, (Winnipeg Grenadiers) he spent 4 long years as a POW. Emerging from that horrific experience at roughly half his original body weight. For the remainder of his life he openly and without apology, expressed his hatred for Japan and anything Japanese. As he recounted his experiences over the years and described the barbaric treatment from the Japanese, it was impossible not to respect his opinion. He certainly had earned the right to express it.
