    Hi

I am very new to all this so be very gentle with me if I do something wrong

I am try to find any details of my late uncle - John Anderson, DOB 27/7/14 - who served in the Royal Scots in WW2. They main problem is that I have no details of where he served nor his service records which makes things very difficult. I do have an image of him with my grandfather, Mother and himself all now deceased. I will attempt to upload.
The only other detail I have is that there is a strong possibility that he was invalided out with TB at some point as we (my brother and I) had to have chest X-Rays every year and did not need a BCG as teenagers.
    All help appreciated

Hi Stuart and welcome to the forum. I'd recommend obtaining a copy of his service records if you do not know his battalion.

    Regards

Hi Stuart, as Andy has mentioned get his service record first Get a copy of military service records - GOV.UK

Here's a list of Anderson's killed or injured in the Royal Scots. findmypast.co.uk

But it's always best to see the record first, well worth the wait and the £30. My dad was with about 6 different regiments over a few years but only the service record will tell you who he started his training with etc. Good luck with your research.
P.S. if he was from Leith, try The Scotsman newspaper archive. You never know what might show up in the news. Scotsman Digital Archive

    Many thanks
I have paid a Pay as You Go credit with find my past and have looked at the records that might relate to me late uncle. However, I can't cross relate these records with his DOB of 27/7/14 so still not any further forward. I need to be specific about the him, the service number and date of birth before committing myself re GOV and £30 which I am happy to do if I get the right chap and right service number. Will try the Scotsman. Any ideas about the treatment for TB locally in and around Edinburgh if he was invalided out during the war period.
Any comments from anybody about the picture send and the uniform - anybody have ideas about battalion from badges - know its not very clear but its a scan from a very old and very old original

    Thanks again

Hi Stuart, his record should be traceable with DOB. Service number helps, but not essential for them checking the records.

Try the Lothian Health Service Archivist for possible hospital admission record availability and to help identify hospitals treating TB at the time. They managed to show me the admission register entry for a relative from 1866.

His service records are with the MoD in Glasgow - No soldiers service records from WW2 are on any of the public ancestry/research type websites so its highly unlikely you'll find the info you seek on the internet.
