Once a year, around about this time, I take myself off to a hotel in Russell Square in London and indulge myself in a bloody good dose of nostalgia. To explain. As an eleven year old in 1934 I belonged to a local boy's club and since 1964 we have been having an annual reunion. I run a Blog that records these happenings Cambridge and Bethnal Green Old Boys Club and I've just posted a few pics onto the site as part of my annual report but I just wanted to pick out just one snap for your attention. The photos shows Benny & I meeting up last night and after the event I had another look at the photo of a group of the boys paying a visit to the House of Commons probably in 1936. If you peer closely, there I am in the front row and poking his head above my shoulder is Benny. I usually manage to see Benny at the AJEX Cenotaph Parade in November, most of my peer group were involved in WW2, but I always make a point of looking for him at the club reunion. In our club days we were both in the same harmonica group, we boxed each other in the inter-house competitions, we shared most of our youth with each other and our friendship is as strong today as it ever was. Getting old is a bit of a bind but meeting up with old friends makes it so much more palatable :p Ron
