Hi, Please see the attached. HMS HAMLICAR (Combined Operations base, Djedjelli, Algeria) (for minor landing craft). HMS COPRA was the accounting base for Combined Ops at Largs, Scotland.
    Regards
    Hugh

Wow thanks Hugh that was quick, H.M.S. Copra seems to be landing craft? do we know it they saw action at this time. He seems too have died from illness of the brain. It could have been caused from structural difference?

HMS Hamilcar was the shore base for Landing Craft in Algiers.
HMS Copra was the Accounting Base in Largs, Scotland for Combined Operations. He would merely be attached to this for pay and drafting, it is not where he would actually be serving.

No. HMS Copra was merely where his records were held. He was actually serving with the 58th LCA (Landing Craft Assault) Flotilla based at HMS Hamilcar in Algiers. Where or what the 58th Flotilla were doing I'm afraid I don't know. Possibilities are Sicily and Italy landings. First you need to obtain his Service Record to find the date he joined 58th.
