Hello! keeping it short and simple... I know someone who had a relative in the Second World War. Seems either 10th or 3rd Light Horse. I wonder what the coloured fold is on the slouch? Also missing emu feather! Militia maybe? Name was Alan Morris SA or Victorian. Not sure if he's among the variations of Alan like Allan, Allen, etc.
Are you sure he survived WW2? The CWGC records show three possible matches, all of them in the infantry though, not the Light Horse. Two died at El Alamein in 1942 and the third after VJ-day on Ambon Island.
keep it short and sweet who is the person you know same as the sword post what is your interest have you searched https://recordsearch.naa.gov.au/SearchNRetrieve/Interface/ListingReports/ItemsListing.aspx
I see your difficulty. There is a well-known WW1 photo of the 10th Light Horse officers which shows some with the hackle and others none. See: Group portrait of officers of the 10th Australian Light Horse Regiment. Back row, left to right: ... This 1939 B&W footage of a 10th parade shows all with the hackle: There are a few other film clips on: Historical Australian Light Horse Film Footage – Australian Light Horse Association Have you sought the ALHA's help? I note the 3rd LH in WW1 did not have the hackle. See: 3rd Light Horse Regiment Then in this one they do:File:3rd LHR MG Squadron.jpg - Our Contribution The 10th were raised in Western Australia and the 3rd were raised in, possibly in part, in Tasmania and South Australia. Would that help? Clue from: Books and Lt Horse 1 - 3 There is a re-enactment group for the 3rd. Try them too? https://www.facebook.com/3rdlighthorse/ Good luck.
Best place to check is here DVA's Nominal Rolls but quite a few hits, if you can get a date of birth/place of birth that would really help - you can have a trawl through the possibilities and see if any show up as Light Horse
Not the same person from the Sword Post. I checked another place, WW2 DVA Nominal roll, with all the names of people who served in WW2 in RAN, AIF or RAAF. Havent asked the ALHA yet. You have some interesting points there. But the photo is WW2/post 1936 i'd guess. WW1 groups wouldn't help I guess. I got limited amount of time but I'll look again after. Looked there, cheers for suggesting it anyways.
