    Hi all,

Have been looking into my grandfather military history partially through interest and partially through wanting to make a display for my dad. I'm awaiting his service records but have managed with help from family to establish his medal entitlement, this is in another thread. Looking through some of my grandads stuff. I came across these badges, he was in the paras. Could somebody tell me what the dark navy coloured wings were for? Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Ryan,
    The dark badge looks like,
British Army Parachute Wings. adopted in 1940.

The dark badge is a post-war parachute wing worn by the Royal Ulster Rifles.and subsequently by the Royal Irish Rangers and the Royal Irish Regiment.

    Hi Both,

He left the Para's in 1945 so maybe its something that he'd been given. Was thinking of putting it in a frame with his medals but seems like it may not have been worn by him.
    Thanks for the replies.
