Hmm..."ruined workshop" in true OO 1:76 scale as opposed to 1:72... Are Airfix...given their new owners...returning ever so quietly and many MANY years later to railway layout features??? Would have been bloody useful LAST year... OR are we seeing Hornby's designers at work...?
The ruined workshop reminds me vaguely of a floor mat with broken walls and craters (with ruined buildings?) for toy soldiers but I can't fully remember (I was very young). Ahhh.
I'm glad that they are releasing new models and I see that they are releasing TWO versions of the BF110!! In the one year!
Nice to see 76th coming back - made me think of railways too. Reckon Phylo's got a point about Hornby/Airfix integration. So are those Bedford's completely new mouldings then? Not something old dressed up a bit? They look quite sophisticated, hopefully a sign of Airfix finally sorting out it's small scale ranges.

The RAF Battle of Britain Airfield Set - 1:72 Scale could be interesting. At a guess that'll be a boxed set of the RAF Recovery or Emergency set....or both!....and the RAF personnel. The Bedfords ARE indeed interesting; they'd given up the British softskin market to JB for a few years...

Have you seen some of the German stuff available for Continental HO/OO railway layouts??? Preiser do a set of Wehrmacht troops on leave and on parade you can fill a railway platform with! And some of the "activity" sets you can get from the COntinent for layouts are absolutely brilliant compared to the REALLY dodgy OO white metal castings the British firms punt out.... Suprisingly...the OLD Airfix railway layout stuff is EXTREMELY collectable! I've had to shell out BIG money for some in original boxes. And Airfix ALSO sold on a lot of their old moulds to Dapol years ago, and THEY still produce a lot of it under their own label.... Under the footplate part for "their" Stephenson's Rocket there's STILL a little 1960's style Airfix "scroll"....with the name Airfix carefully removed from the mould!
I've had a look round that site in more detail. And it's a bit weird... They're STILL advertising and stocking under the "Airfix" brandname the Romans, Ancient britons, Robin Hood, Sheriff of Nottingham and ALL the WWI 1/72 figures ets.....that they sold off the moulds and RIGHTS to years ago to HaT! :mellow: HaT have been doing a brisk trade in them now for AGES! Memory lane, Airfix was a right of passage and they made some nice kits , pity I didn't build them !! Their 88mm giun and tractor was neat as was their RAF emergency set , the dogfight 109 / Beaufighter was a favourite. The firefly , Halifax , Stirling, with its tractor and towed bombload , and the huge 1/24 stuff.
