Guess this story may already have broken in football circles in the States Dave, but in case not here you go; a heads up. I hope you can see and get to read the content over on your side, and I hope the young chap really knows what he's letting himself in for. The only way I could see it working out for him position wise is as a wide receiver or failing that special teams/punt returner. Kind regards, always, Jim. Wales' Rees-Zammit to leave rugby for NFL move P.S. NBC are running with it. Rugby star Louis Rees-Zammit enters NFL's international player pathway program
Thanks Jim. First I've heard of it over here. Looks like he has the build for a wide receiver or corner back position, the fastest men on the team. Be interesting to watch. Here are the rookies he's going to be up against. They'll be fighting for those roster slots like ravenous dogs Wide Receiver Rankings 2024 NFL Draft Defensive Back Rankings 2024 NFL Draft
Wow Dave! Against that competion I think the young Louis Rees-Zammit will do well to get offered a trial at any of the NFL sides. A big ask given he has to clear the International Pathway programme yet. It'll be interesting to see how he goes, and if he can come up to scratch. Kind regards, always, Jim.
I've been scanning the American sites and haven't seen anything yet. Saw this article in The Guardian which lays it out pretty coldly: Rugby star Louis Rees-Zammit needs a minor miracle to make it in the NFL In the NFL, he’s just another fast, 6ft 2in, 200lb player in a sport that churns out hundreds of them every year from elite college programs.

It's big news for Welsh rugby Dave, but not even a ripple in the pond on your side - yet! Kind regards, always, Jim.
The New York Giants had two British-born players at the same time, Lawrence Tynes and Osi Umenyiora. They earned Super Bowl rings in 2008 and 2012.
Osi and J-Bell are still tearing it up on UK tv. For me, the best American Football punditry on television on either side of the Atlantic (excluding real-time game callers/commentators). Kind regards, always, Jim. P.S. Mick Luckhurst anyone?
I never paid much attention to who was announcing games until Tony Romo retired from playing and moved to broadcasting. He's so good at looking at the situation on the field before the snap and predicting how the play will unfold. Plus he's funny as heck. I just saw that he's working the Superbowl this year for CBS. www.youtube.com/watch?v=BrcLQ9As1qE
Well for the first time in a long time I was able to avoid seeing the results of any of the first four play-off games from last weekend. I now have to try and repeat the feat this weekend as I can't watch all the games live due to the timings in the UK, and I do hate stumbling across the result of a game before I get chance to see it. BBC have been especially adept at spoiling that for me in recent years by sticking the result, or a reference to it, in the more mainstream sections of their news coverage. I at least hope I get to see the Chiefs/Bills game without knowing the details beforehand (though if it ends in another last second winning field goal for KC I'll probably feel differently!).
"My cousin has 2 tickets for the 2024 SUPER BOWL, both box seats. He paid $2,500 for each ticket, but he didn't realize last year when he bought them, it was going to be the same day as his wedding. If you are interested, he is looking for someone to take his place...It's at the Temple of God Church, in Aurora at 3pm. Her name is Judy McNeill she is 5'1, about 140lbs, she's a good cook too...She'll be the one in the white dress."
I HATE TONY ROMO'S BROADCASTING! if I want to predict a play, I'll do it (I Don't). I want thoughtful analysis, and someone to point out a key block I may have missed. For me Romo is the worst.
That had not occurred to me but I can see your point. There was a baseball broadcaster and former pro catcher named Tim McCarver who would would call what each pitch should be and why. Although he was good at it, it drove me nuts. I had to turn down the TV volume and turn on the radio for his games.
At this point, since my team rather embarrassed itself toward the end of this season, even though it may not work, I’ll root for the Lions, because they are the underdogs to go to the Superbowl. February 11, 6:30 here, CBS.
I enjoy Romo, probably the only ex QB that I used to groan when I heard on comms was Phil Simms, then he got promoted to the halftime talking heads so I don't have to worry anymore!
