The Kentucky players (in blue) knew that the officials had clearly seen number 26 get shoved after the play was over (a penalty) so they played it up for comedy. Pretty good :)

Alabama won another national championship last night.

Frequent use of the word 'Blitz'

I'm sure that they continue to call this a 'World Series', but its about as relevant as Gaelic or Australian Rules Football

They call it a National Championship. World Series is baseball.

If you going to try to be insulting, be sure you know what you are insulting before you fail with the insult.

It doesn't help your standing here at all.

Always guaranteed to get a bite from North America, hardly needs bait.

I understand you get bites from most areas outside of North America, also. You're not hard to stir.

The NFL games that stopped World War Two

    Sportshour
Monday 11 November is Armistice Day in the UK, where the country remembers those who fought in World War One and World War Two.
To mark this occasion, we go back to 1944 and a moment of respite from the strain of war... You might think that American football being played in front of full houses in England is a relatively new thing, but 75 years ago, with D-Day looming, 50,000 people watched an American football game featuring NFL and Canadian Football League stars at White City Stadium in London
Sportshour brings you the story of the Tea Bowl and Coffee Bowl - The Gridiron games that stopped the second World War.
We'll also be live with our athletics team in Dubai, as the World Para Athletics Championships continue. The event will be a big indicator of who to look out for at the Paralympics in Tokyo next year.
And England's women's footballers will play in front of a sell-out crowd at Wembley Stadium for the first time on Saturday when they play Germany. The attendance will smash the 45,619 record for an England Women home fixture, which was set at the last meeting with Germany at Wembley in 2014. We'll be speaking to a former England star about what the occasion will mean for the players.

Georgia is really good this year and playing in a semifinal game tomorrow for the national championship. They have a history of finding creative ways to blow it at the last minute.

    This sums it up :)

I don't think most of the Limey's here will understand the subtleties of that video, but there is always...hope.

What did you think of this week's video?

You are right, I didn't. I get the NFL, but not the college scene.

There were no professional sports teams in the southeastern US until the 1960s so college sports have a very loyal following in these parts. It was new to me when I moved south but I like it.

Collegiate football was around well before professional football and established itself here, long before pro ball was even available on the radio.

College football is also just a different atmosphere, with varying and sometimes bizarre traditions with each team.

You dont have to worry about "your" team up and moving elsewhere.

I've not watched the NFL in 40 years, except for the rare Super Bowl, and then that was usually tied to a party we at.

Given the current craven incorporation of leftist political dogma into the professional game here, I doubt I will ever watch the NFL again.

I like what you say about not having to worry about your college team up ans moving, as I follow the Raiders!

I agree. The NFL was at it's finest under Rozelle.

This one is several years old, but is still hilarious.

The SEC thing is not Sgt. Bilko, or Mash, or Frazier. About the same level as 99% of BBC "comedy" output these days, but spoken by actors with much cleaner teeth.

The Auburn catch man should play for England at cricket, because we are rubbish at catching. And at batting. In fact, the nearest equivalent game we have to American Football is cricket, because you wait ages for anything to happen and the idea is for the quarterback to try to hit ( throw ) a six ( a shot that goes to the boundary without touching the ground ) which his team mate tries to catch ( the other side tries that at cricket. )

American Football started here back in 1982 on Channel 4 ( free to air channel ) before Superbowl XX. I chose the New England Patriots and a friend of mine supported the Chicago Bears, because he liked "The Fridge". His team won. After nearly 40 years of stumbling upon it on the box I still haven't worked out why they are allowed to fight each other, but are nowhere near the ball. That bit is like proper football, but that is not really allowed.

As long as you enjoy it. It is fun when the man rushes 50 yards, turns at the last second, turns to find the ball whizzing towards him about 5 yards away, and confounds the opposition. All that scragging back at the quarter back area is just plain silly, and could be painful....

A classic, and accurate. Carlin gives all the reasons I prefer baseball to football.
