Just a quick reminder that 100% of my fee for any diaries in my archives (I have over 6000 complete war diaries) is donated to a military charity that my 12 year old son is fundraising for. Todate with the help of the forum his raised nearly £70,000 with a target of £100,000 so keep asking me.

    Cheers

Hello Andy, I am looking for the war diary of the 51st Highland Division, this division entered to liberate my village Linguaglossa in the north-east part of Etna, their entry took place on August 15th, the fleeing Germans had destroyed the bridge at the entrance to the village to slow down their march. They stayed in the village from August 15 until November 8, 1943, I would like to know as much as possible about their stay in the country, what the commander was called, what they did, if any events happened during their stay, in short, everything possible about this period because I would like to celebrate their support for our freedom from fascism and the Nazis. I have no idea where to look, and especially how to search. You said this “I have the battalion war diary covering 1943 inc all appendices = WO 169/10173 7 Argyl and Sutherland Highlanders Jan-Dec 1943”. Is this the place where to find what I’m looking for, if yes can u tell me how much it will cost to me. Thanks a lot. Antonio

    Andy,

Antonio's target unit should be the brigade shown on the official history website for 51st Highland Division, namely: 153rd Infantry Brigade with 5th Battalion, Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment), 1st Battalion, Gordon Highlanders and 5th/7th Battalion, Gordon Highlanders.

See Post 19 in his main thread: Hello from Sicily

    Hello Andy

Having sourced quite a few war diaries in the past for me I'm hoping you might be able to help me with this request. I'm looking for the war diaries for the 932 Port Construction and Repair Company, Royal Engineers, for the second half of 1942, then 1943, 1944 and 1945. Looking at National Archive website for this time period I can only see references to WO 169/10797 covering June to December 1943, and WO 169/10798, covering August to December 1943. Hopefully though there are more than this. Would you be able to lay your hands on these for me at all?

    Many thanks

    Chris

    Hi Andy,
Do you have a copy of the Prince of Wales Volunteers (South Lancashire) War Diaries, specifically relating to their deployment as part of the BEF, and evacuation from Dunkirk ? My father's Certificate of Service show he was with the BEF from 05/10/1939 to 05/06/1940. I used to have a copy on DVD provided by a contributer to this Forum many years ago (it may have been you !), but unfortunately it has disappeared. I have seen random pages appearing in some threads on here, but it looks like volume 20 (the period of the last few days before Dunkirk is missing). I hope to retrace his steps during those last few months in a trip to Belgium and France this summer, and the information from the War Diaries would be invaluable for this.
    Best Regards
    BobD

Just a quick message to wish you all a Merry Happy Researching Christmas and my son is very close to reaching £12,000 in his charity pot for the RAF Benevolent Fund so if anyone would like a war diary and donate my usual fee to Jacob's fundraiser let me know. I'd love to get him over £12,000 for Christmas.

Jacob’s £100,000 Pledge to the RAF Benevolent Fund

    Cheers
    Andy
