Anybody know anything about the programme this year? There's a site Airborne Commemoration Foundation set up to give this information, but it doesn't yet.
The programme is the same virtually every year....Friday night at the bridge, Ginkel Heath Saturday morning and the cemetery on Sunday amongst others.....so I feel if you substitute last years dates for this years you have the general idea......
I am trying to gather as much information as possible about the events wich will take place in 2009, the 65th anniversary. Not only for the Arnhem area but also for the other places involved in Operation Market Garden. It's an ungoing thing and I will update the info on a regular base as for some places the program isn't known completely yet. operation market garden program
Any news of the 'revamped' Oosterbeek Museum? When is it opening? As I mention on another thread I'm going with my school group in October.
There will be an official opening in september when the Vets are here, but the museum will be open before this date, probably august. As soon as I know the exact dates I will post them here. Cheers Ron
The problem is that they're not allowing any booking before the museum opens. I like to book months in advance!
The program for the whole Market-Garden area is recently updated and made printable. Note: this is not the final version of the program!!!! operation market garden program Cheers Ron

My Dad dropped on day one as he was Sir John Hacketts Signal man. He didnt get out when they got Hackett out - but survived with the help of the Dutch resistance, and got out 9 weeks later. He returns every year - ( well since he was 78 - took him that long to have the courage to go back). He is a real hero to me. Lesley

I've heard through the grapevine that on September 18th this year there is going to be some sort of Rememberance/Commemoration Service in honour of all those who took part in Op. Pegasus I. Apparently a Baton will be presented to a young child who is a relative of somebody who took part, either Dutch or British. The plan is that the Baton will be passed on each year, alternating between the two countries. I don't know any details regarding the exact time or place of the Service but I wonder if anybody else has anymore info?
I am going to Amsterdam early September and taking a trip to Arnham & Oosterbeek to see the new Museum extension which should be open before we visit, I went to Arnham many years ago while in the Army but never got to visit the Airbourne cemetery, I googled the area and noticed that the cemetery is quite some way from the centre of Oosterbeek, doe's anyone know how long it will take us to walk there as we are using the train & public transport during are brief visit also could I visit Lonsdale church in the same time?
