I could be wrong, but I have the impression that most of the bagpipers at the Market Garden commemorations were from Dutch pipebands. (Photos A Ginkelse Heide; B-D Oosterbeek).
If I had to guess, I’d say that in photo D, the three mace holders at the right were British, and all the others in the parade were Dutch.
Can anybody put me right on this topic?

There were members of the Somerset and Devon Fire Service Band, as well.

Thanks, Phil. Do you know if any of the Somerset and Devon people are in any of my 4 photos?

The Pipes and Drums of the Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service Ceremonial Unit are preparing to leave for the City of Arnhem in Holland later this week to take part in the 65th Anniversary Commemorations of “Operation Market Garden” part of the WW2 allied plans for the liberation of Holland from Nazi Germany in 1944.

The Unit under the Command of Drum Major Ian Washburn and with additional support from the City of Exeter Pipe Band, Kernow Pipes and Drums and the North Devon Pipers will travel to Arnhem on Thursday September 17th.
Over a three day period they will be taking part in a number of Veterans Parades culminating on Sunday September 20th with a service at the veterans Cemetery in Oosterbeek and a march past on the Waal Bridge in Nijmegen in front of HRH Prince Phillip and HRH Queen Beatrix.

Peter Sandel from the Ceremonial Unit said: “The Unit from Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service consider it an honour and a privilege to be invited to this special event which commemorates the fallen allied soldiers from the WW2 conflict, especially at a time when we have our present day servicemen engaged in conflicts overseas and away from their families and friends.”

    Thanks, Phil,
    A couple of comments:
    - There are more than 30 pipe bands in the Netherlands.
    - The website of the Dutch Pegasus Pipes & Drums from Barneveld makes it pretty clear that they played on the Saturday at the Ginkelse Heide (picture A), but that they didn't play at Oosterbeek on the Sunday.
    - There weren't many pipers at the Ginkelse Heide, so I suppose they must all have been from Barneveld. I wonder why the Devon & Somerset weren't used.
    - Can it be perhaps that pictures B-D from Oosterbeek contains only the Devon & Somerset etc etc, ie no Dutch, at all?
    - I was at Nijmegen, and I'm pretty sure there weren't any pipers there at all.

    Well spotted, Ronald.
    Now see this:
    City of Rochester Brass -

This gets ever more complicated. Maybe that drum used to belong to that band and now belongs to the Devon & Somerset???
