Does anyone know what Jackdaw Loading was. It appears to be a mule load used in Burma. Also UPODR. The abbreviation was associated with a mess tin also used by an officer fron 129 Fd Regt.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

A very speculative guess: jackdaw could be a corruption of yakdan which was an Indian Army term for a pannier (as was khajawah). Is there any indication what the load was?

Idler thanks for the suggestion. The quote is in an OP officers crib sheet that I haven't personally seen yet. However, apparently a mule load was 240lb with 3 mules = 4 jackdaws!

As soon as I have a copy of the crib I will post it here.

    Hello all
Looking for the words behind the letters C.P.

It is in a tracing along with D.F. which I'm presuming is defensive fire

    so is this concentration point?

    many thanks
