Does anyone have copies of the War Diaries for April 1941 for the 11 W Yorks & 7 E Yorks Regiments please? I am interested to see whether there is any reference to an exercise on the 26th to 27th April 1941 to try and penetrate the defences of Falmouth in Cornwall defended by the 8th Bn Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire Regiment (which I have).

    Hi Phil

7 E Yorks Diary just says ' 26-27 April: Exercise to test the Falmouth Defences. HQ, A, B &D Cos took part.' The diary is not very detailed and it doesn't seem there were Operational Orders etc saved in it.
I copied parts of 11 West Yorks but unfortunately did not copy that page!

    Cheers
    Tony

203rd Inf Brigade Diary just says the exercise started at 1900 on 26th and finished at 1300 on 27th April. No further details.

Thanks for checking out the diaries for me.
I was curious because the Bed & Herts Diary seems to praise themselves for their defence and I wondered whether the other Regiments involved took a similar view.
