    Callisto, I appreciated your effort to keep this thread on track. Some of the meanders here were taking it into ground that has already been well covered on other threads on this forum. You raised an important and largely unaddressed topic when you started this thread, which was what made it valuable. Your contributions are consistently thought-provoking.

    With apologies Callisto, my intent was not to derail the thread. Several posts had already meandered away to a more generic discussion of what defined a hero. Military or civilian. In my twisted logic I thought a specific example might be food for thought around what each of us regards as heroic behaviour.
    Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.
