MILLIKEN was captured at TOBRUK on 20th June 1942.

While working as a batman at the hospital a BENEVENTO Camp 87 on 3rd September 1942, he managed to escape by crawling under the wire. He was discovered however, 3 days later hiding in a railway wagon at BOLZANO.

In August 1943, MILLIKEN volunteered for a working part with intent to escape. He managed to get away one night from the farmhouse where he was billeted near DOBENSKY in POLAND. By train he travelled as far as KRAKAU but during a Gestapo passport check he was discovered.

In July 1944, while working in a wine merchant’s cellar at LEOBSCHULTZ, he managed to escape with the aid of a Polish family. Supplied with civilian clothes, food, money and a passport, he manged to get away. He travelled as far as STETTIN by train but was recaptured on the railway station there.

Shortly afterwards he was tried and sentenced to 6 months punishment for his escape for purposely destroying about 40 metres of wood by fire whilst working at DOBENSKY.

MILLIKEN was liberated at LIEGENHAIN on 30th March 1945.
