On the night 23rd-24th October 1942, L/Cpl. Glover was in charge of a recce party which accompanied the attacking infantry of the 5th Camerons. His task was to get information of the first enemy minefield for making a gap at "G." Having located the minefield, he made an accurate reconnaissance under machine gun fire and shell fire and at the far end of the minefield he found a row if "S" Mines with push igniters and a row of B.4 mines with trip wires. On his own initiative he disarmed as many as he could find to enable the infantry to go through, thereby saving many casualties. He then gave a full report to his Section Officer on arrival of the gapping party. He then led a Sub-Section with great energy and determination in clearing mines out of the gap and marking it. His courage, initiative and leadership undoubtedly saved many casualties, and were largely responsible for the successful making of the gap in clearing.
