Captain W. Davison served in the Campaigns in Belgium and Holland as a Platoon Commander in the 13th Battalion (Lancashire) The Parachute Regiment. His work at all times particularly able and fearless. At BURE on 2-3 January he led his platoon in the attack with great personal dash and courage. After the capture of the village, during which time he was wounded, defended his sector with outstanding ability and courage. He directed the artillery attacks with Tiger and Panther tanks were stopped right in his own position, with shells bursting …the houses that he was occupying. He personally led platoon counter attacks, more than once, with only one other man and repulsed the enemy. He refused to have the positions in spite of pain from his wound until ordered to do so.
