Just realised there's a cheaper on on Amazon. Paperback for nearer £30!

I'm loathe to generalise, as I think that is the falling down of so many books I've read relating to the subject (like the statements 'Britz sucked in all ways asides arty') which seems to more signal the excellent German propaganda still circulating.

So methinks I'll be ordering it alongside Raising Churchill's Army.

I've just been reading an interesting little tome called 'The Black Beret' by Charles Graves. Which is a 1943 published fictionalized account of some young eager chaps after call up and follows them through various stages of selection and training eventually becoming armoured regiment officers. Very much of its time, lovely language with the trainees sitting boards and off on various schemes and courses.

Lots cheap on Abe The Black Beret

Must thank all here, I now have Timothy Place's book. and David French's, the original is on my to buy list for the near future. Must say Place's is very interesting reading thus far, haven't put it down since Mr Postman put it in my hands!
