    Hi Guys,

I'm hoping someone out there might be able to help me with a couple of projects I'm working on.

Firstly, I'm researching a book on 137 Brigade of 46th Division. Part of the BEF labour force, they were split up by the German advance and found themselves fighting Rommel in both stages of the campaign. The units involved were
    2/4th KOYLI
    2/5th West Yorkshires
    2/6th DWR
    2/7th DWR
I'm interested in any info on any of these. The 2/5 WYorks fought at Robecq before being evacuated through Dunkirk, the others fought in Beauman Division at St Valery and elsewhere. If anyone has anything about any of these units or actions involving them I'd be interested to hear from you.

Secondly, my grandfather served in the 9th West Yorkshires at Arras as part of the GHQ force in May 1940. Unfortunately, no official record seems to exist about the unit. The PRO at Kew has a file which consists of a series of letters trying to find out if a war diary could be found - it couldn't and it cost £10 to find that out! Anything at all on the 9th would be great.

    Thanks in advance.

    Tim

You need the book ' The Day of Reckoning' by Donald Edgar, which is the story of how three Territorial ' Labour ' Divisions, sans transport and Artillery ended up facing the Panzers. ISBN 0 906549 35 3

Send me a message re the BEF Orbat 1940.
