    Hi Adam,
    Most of the vehicles you suggested have a very benign and practicle look to them. The "Gasdynamic trawler "Progvev-T"" (what ever it was) has a much more aggressive, belligerant and sinister look to it.

    It's Gas-dynamic minesweeper

    SPECIFICATIONS
    - Combat weight - 37 tons;
    - Bandwidth trawling - 10-12 m;
    - Speed of trawling - 1 ... 3 km / h;
    - Reliability trawling - 99%;
    - Uptime - 2,5 h;
    - Minesweeping operations in depth - up to 20 cm (at work ripper - up to 50 cm)

    Gas-dynamic minesweeper "Progrev-T" first manifested itself on Afghan roads. The machine is a base of tank T-54 and attached to it a jet engine from the MiG-15. Also, the trawler was a container with kerosene that allows for a clearance on the road to 6 km without refueling.

    Under the influence of the gasdynamic jet to cover the road with dilapidated asphalt emits soil and rubble, clearly expose them all irregularities. Simply put, the crew tore camouflage cover with mines, "scored" in the rocky bed.

    from here.

    Also found this - Hungarian Fire Fighter T-34 with MiG 21 engines:

    I'm sure Jeff the Slipdigit would like to have one of those :)

    These were specialised vehicles that worked, but here are some other experimental or concept ideas that somehow didn't.

    Not related, but in my search this cropped up too :lol:

    Nice one Sol,
    Seem to recall a similar trial with (possibly) a universal carrier mounting a jet for mine clearance?
    Mind's gone blank again though, may have been a bigger machine, but I do think it was a British one.
    (Bod, didn't you post a a picture once? Maybe buried in 'name that vehicle')

    I've not seen a Valentine gap/mud-jumper, but there is the Carrier kitted as such.

    You've jogged my memory though Za, it was a Valentine chassis with the Mine-clearing Jet. I believe found to throw the mines everywhere rather than actually clear them:

    Some great information on something I knew nothing about.

    The original photo looks like something from a Mad Max film.

    Burst a rib myself over this one :lol:

    All ideas are good until you test them. My favourite is the Grand Panjandrum, here at 2:00:

    Some crazies worthy of belonging to this Grate Sight did a replica, by no means as good as the original :)

    Now if one could enjoy Utube in peace without the imbecilic comments :rolleyes:

    Where's that shot of the Morser Gerat from? Very clear image for Kubinka.
    (Did they build the shed around it...)

    Should this thread now merge into 'Strange vehicles'? The original scary tank's been solved by Sol and it's starting to cover the same ground.
