Hey lads, From early June until September 10, 1943, my grandfather's unit was posted at Tahag Camp in Egypt. During this time it appears they did a lot of training, likely in preparation for Operation Avalanche. He left for Sicily on Sept 10th and then Italy Nov 3rd. Anyway, it appears he may have taught a course on the mechanics of German and British mines and booby traps. I have his original notes and have posted them here, although it appears maybe it only references the German types. It's interesting that he mentions one of the lads in the unit may have been victim of a German booby trap while using a lavatory flush at Bengazi!
Hello BrayDune links below may well be of interest http://ww2talk.com/forums/topic/18805-mines-and-booby-traps/ http://ww2talk.com/forums/topic/3859-bizarre-booby-traps-beetroot/ regards Clive
I hope everyone found those interesting. I have letters he wrote home during the African campaign including one the day after the fall of Tunis. I'll post those soon as well.
