    Hello

Bought a 1941 WWII helmet locally in Alberta and it has a Service Number on it.

It is " M 57306" so it is from an Alberta Regiment I guess (the M).

Is there any way of looking up the Service Number??

It would be great to have a name to put on it.

    Best Regards
    Rob

  2. Hi,

As far as I know, you can track a name only if the owner died during the war (those records are public domain). Records are not available online if a soldier died after the war or is still alive.

You can search here : https://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/disco...939-1947/Pages/list.aspx?ServiceNumber=57306&

The only result though is service number D 57306, a private Lacombe from the Royal 22e Regiment who died in February 1944. Looks like your guy survived the war.

    Sincerely,

That number is from a block for 13A District Depot, which was Edmonton. Not even a useful unit to narrow things down and hope for some luck in finding him on a roll somewhere.
