Hello - I think I may have worked out on which convoy(s) my father arrived in Bombay - I think from correspondence dates it might have been convoy AB21A - Aden (21/11/43) to Bombay (27/11/43). This convoy included SS Strathmore, carrying troops. Working backwards, she formed part of KMF 25A Liverpool (26/10/43) to Aden (19/11/43). This would fit with photos of Dad's embarkation leave home in September, 1943. The question is - are there passenger lists for convoy ships, so that I can check this? KMF 25A is an interesting convoy as it was attacked by the Luftwaffe off North Africa and several ships were sunk.
    Best wishes - Kate

Highly unlikely there are any passenger lists. Your best bet is to check the War Diary for your father's unit. In my father's case the War Diary gives the ship the Regiment embarked on at Gourock and the ship they transferred to in Durban.

According to my Grandfathers service records it sounds like the ship he was on. Nothing in stone just date wise. States leave w/e 26 oct 43 arrive bombay 28 nov 43. Unfortunatley my grandfather never made it home. Was your father RAC? If hou have anymore info that you could share that would be amazing thank you

    Regards

Kate, not sure if I can find these, but will try.

All Convoys from Canada to the UK had passenger lists (well, their really nominal rolls of troops embarked) are available on line at Heritage Canadiana....so these types of document’s DO EXIST, it’s just finding them is the hard part. I’ve also found nominal rolls for ships leaving the UK to Canada (thru NY City - with Canadian troops on them)

I”ll see what I can find, if anything. Other members on this site may be able to advise about “British documents” and if they are available.
