    At the moment im researching

    Penman, George Dorward
    Corporal
    4th or 5th King's Own Scottish Borderers / 52nd Lowland Division
    3190919
Attached to: HQ 52nd Lowland Div, Defence Platoon

George Dowrward Penman died on 1 june 1945 in Oschersleben, i try to find any information about the HQ 52nd Lowland Division of 4th / 5th KOSB of that period they stayed in Oschersleben, Germany.

He was buried in Oschersleben, but for some reason his body dissapeared, as his name is now on the Memorial wall at Groesbeek, The Netherlands.

Maybe someone has a wardiary or other documents of these units during this period ?
Maybe even about that day and how he died.

Nothing is mentioned in the book Mountain and Flood.

Andy Ait might know something, but I don't know if he checks the forum very often.

Always helps to add the CWGC link in such a thread: https://www.cwgc.org/find-records/find-war-dead/casualty-details/2659434/george-dorward-penman/

AndyAit was last logged in here October 2025, so you try a PM to get his help.

Your subject has not appeared here before.

There a few threads here that mention Oschersleben, they might help.

Have you seen this local Scottish newspaper report: Former Wallyford resident's mission to honour local Second World War heroes This refers to him dying on a road.

Two KOSB battalions, 4th & 5th served in the 155th (South Scottish Brigade), but Wiki states the 5th left the brigade 12 February 1945. See: 155th (South Scottish) Brigade - Wikipedia

The 5th moved to the 157th Infantry Brigade on 12/2/1945. See: 52nd (Lowland) Infantry Division - Wikipedia
