Hi all, My Great Uncle was a Fireman at Station 48 of the Auxiliary Fire Service, based at Denmark Hill School in Camberwell. On the 28/09/1940, the Station was bombed and thirteen Firemen were killed and a number injured. I have searched for information on this event but have found very little. Any help would be fantastic. Kind regards Emps
Hello Emps, Have you looked at and/or searched the IWM website previously? Link below shows up a host of interesting info regarding the AFS (please note a "full" search to include "records" with non-digitised media will bring up even more) There's always a chance that something relating to Station 48 may be within. Good luck with all your endeavours, here's the link; Search our collection | Imperial War Museums Kind regards, always, Jim. P.S. The National Archives "discovery" would be worth a search too.
TNA Discovery list results for AFS 1940. Search results: AUXILIARY FIRE STATION 1940 | The National Archives Widening search parameters may bring up more. Kind regards, always, Jim.

Hi there, Yup thats the men who were killed as per my link to the CWGC, although Cyril Pickstock died at another incident. If you are asking for a source to my Great Uncle having been at Station 48, its noted in the 1939 register and is also recorded in private family records I possess. The only other reference I can find to the Denmark Hill School incident is a short mention in Southwark in the Blitz by Neil Bright, and two files at TNA which are not available online - these are the recommendations for two Kings Commendations for Brave Conduct. Cheers Emps
Perhaps contact the school to see if they have any info it appears to now be Lyndhurst primary school
